Performance notes: "This work uses very high pitches as part of an effort to standardize higher bassoon playing and to create more dramatic differences in musical color. Adjustments should be made as necessary, but one goal of this piece is to encourage playing at least up to F5. Fingerings for this highest register and the low-range multiphonics are available in Kristian Oma Rønnes's book, The Expanded Bassoon Register."
